About Orange Sky

Orange Sky is a non-profit organisation providing free mobile laundry and shower services to people experiencing homelessness.

Each week, more than 200 volunteers give their time to help positively connect some of the 41,000 New Zealanders doing it tough. The focus is on creating a safe, positive and supportive environment for people who are too often ignored or feel disconnected from the community.

By raising funds through The Sudsy Challenge, you will be providing loads more laundry, showers and genuine conversations, as well as helping to keep our vans on the road. We currently operate five services across four locations in New Zealand - but we need your help to reach more friends in need.

Where We Support

We currently have services in four locations. Our first service was launched in Auckland in October 2018, followed by a second in Wellington a year later. We added another van to our Auckland service in November 2021 and in May 2022 we launched our first service on the South Island in Christchurch. Our latest service kicked off in Hamilton in late 2022.

Meet Esau

Esau is a regular friend to the Auckland Orange Sky shift.

"I was able to wash my clothes and have a shower while I was homeless. It has been two years now and I have gotten used to the city and how to survive, thank you to Orange Sky."

"I know what [it] feels like living on the streets. Orange Sky has helped me, and if it has helped me, it has probably helped others as well. I appreciate this service that is there for us" - Esau, Friend of Orange Sky.

How your fundraising helps

Our Services

We currently operate five services in New Zealand. Our first service was launched in Auckland in October 2018, followed by a second one in Wellington a year later in October 2019! A second van in Auckland launched in November 2021. In May 2022, we proudly launched our first service on the South Island, in Christchurch.

Our Volunteers

Each week, more than 200 volunteers give their time to help positively connect some of the 41,000 New Zealanders doing it tough. Our volunteers ensure that everyone has access to free laundry and shower services – but most importantly – the opportunity to connect and feel welcome.

Our Friends

Every day at Orange Sky shifts around the country, friendships are built between volunteers and the people using our services - who we call our friends. There is no doubt that clean clothes and a warm shower make a positive difference, but Orange Sky’s biggest impact in the community is through the hours of conversation that take place each shift on our six orange chairs.

Don't miss out on the fun!
